Sun on Sunday reveals it was offered Kym Marsh sex tape for £30,000

By PA Medialawyer and Press Gazette

Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh is “horrified” at reports that a sex tape featuring her is being offered for sale and could be made public.

The Sun on Sunday reported yesterday that its reporter was shown film of mother-of-three Ms Marsh performing a sex act on a man, and was offered the opportunity to buy the footage.

Also allegedly on sale were naked and erotic images of Marsh, 40.

The newspaper said its reporter met the seller in a hotel to verify the pictures and footage existed and were genuinely of Kym, who plays barmaid Michelle McDonald.

The reporter was shown a 57-second video on a mobile phone and was told: “It is very explicit.”

The paper said it had been told the identity of the man in the video but could not see his face. It did not reveal the identity of the seller or the man in the video in its report.

A spokesman for Ms Marsh said: “Kym is understandably horrified at the claims made in today’s newspaper.

“The matter has now been handed to the police who have launched an investigation.

“We trust that the Sun newspaper will co-operate fully in identifying the individual behind this plot so that they can be held to account.”

Ms Marsh plays feisty Rovers Return landlady Michelle McDonald on the ITV soap.

The Sun on Sunday said it was asked for £30,000 for the footage, but did not make an offer.

A new law on revenge porn came into effect last year, making it a crime to share sexually explicit images without the subject’s consent.

Ms Marsh married Eastender’s actor Jack Ryder in 2002. They split six years later and she went on to date actor Jamie Lomas, whom she married in 2012 and divorced in 2014.

The actress and former Hear’Say singer has three children: son David and daughter Emilie from her relationship with Dave Cunliffe, and daughter Polly from her relationship with Lomas.

She split from fiancé Dan Hooper last year.
