The Sun has named Liam Gallagher as the British rock star being sued by a music journalist who says she is the mother of his child.
Former Oasis frontman Gallagher is himself suing a US newspaper which reported that he was embroiled in a case in a New York court over allegations that he fathered the child during a one-night stand.
A spokesman for the star refused to comment on the story but confirmed that Gallagher's lawyers are taking legal action against the New York Post for reporting the claims.
Liza Ghorbani has been named as the woman involved by two US newspapers, as well as The Sun and Daily Mail, which say she has now hired "the best divorce lawyer in New York’ to handle her claim".
The news comes after The Sun Sunday splashed on a story this weekend claiming that a famous British pop star was facing a £2 million paternity law suit in the US.
On Monday a Sun spokesman told Press Gazette that its decision not to name the star was not because of an injunction.
Gallagher, who now fronts Beady Eye after the break-up of Oasis, is married to former All Saints singer Nicole Appleton.
He has three children, including one with former wife Patsy Kensit, and one with Lisa Moorish.
Gallagher has a famously frosty relationship with his brother and former Oasis bandmate Noel and recently revealed that he does not even have his phone number.
The pair have not spoken since Noel walked out of the group in 2009.
