Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

Stuart Kirk appointed editor of FT’s Lex column

By Press Gazette

The Financial Times has appointed Stuart Kirk as the global editor of its Lex column.

Kirk takes up the role with immediate effect and will lead the team from New York until he relocates to London on 1 February 2012.

He replaces John Authers who becomes the FT‘s senior investment columnist.

Kirk has written for and helped edit the column since 2006, most recently as deputy Lex editor, and before joining the FT he worked as a management consultant for Mercer Oliver Wyman and as senior portfolio manager at Deutsche Asset Management.

FT editor Lionel Barber said: ‘Stuart’s contributions to the Lex column have been consistently clear and insightful.

‘He brings a deep, practical understanding of companies and markets to the role and has helped strengthen Lex’s reputation as the premier financial column in the world.

‘He is well-suited to lead its next phase of development across print and digital formats.’

The Lex column, which first appeared in 1945, has columnists based in London, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Previous editors include former UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Nigel Lawson, ex Barclays Bank chief executive Martin Taylor and former director general of the Confederation of British Industry Richard Lambert.
