The Sun has signed up sacked Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips to a columnist.
The paper promises that Phillips will “write a weekly no-holds-barred account of the show for the paper, revealing her views on the progress of the contestants on screen – as well as all the behind-the-scenes gossip, tears and tantrums”.
She starts this Friday and then will be writing every Monday for the duration of the show.
Sun TV editor Colin Robertson said: “Arlene is a class act and it’s a travesty our readers can’t see her on the TV during this series of ‘Strictly’. If you thought she didn’t hold back on the show, just wait till you read her column.”
Phillips, 66, was dropped in favour of former winner of the show Alesha Dixon prompting allegations of ageism. The pop star is more than 30 years younger than Phillips.
