Stewart to edit Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday

By Hamish Mackay

The newly-appointed editor of The Scotsman, Ian Stewart, will remain editor of its sister title Scotland on Sunday.

Stewart was appointed to lead Johnston Press‘s flagship daily earlier this month after former editor John McLellan was sacked in a management shake-up earlier this year.

Stewart was editor of Scotland on Sunday when the announcement was made and will remain in that role, editing both titles.

Andrew Richardson, managing director of Johnston Press Scotland, said: ‘Ian is the right person and he is doing a good job.”

Kenny Farquharson will remain deputy editor at the Sunday title and the senior assistant editor of The Scotsman, Peter MacMahon, has already stepped up to become the deputy editor at the title.

Stewart joined The Scotsman 1991 as night news editor and has spent the majority of his career with the three Scotsman publications titles, except for a brief period with the Scottish Daily Mail.
