Sunday Mirror head of content Nick Buckley has become deputy editor of People in a raft of new senior editorial appointments at Trinity Mirror's national titles.
They come a month after the company announced the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror were merging into a seven-day operation and the departure of former editor Richard Wallace and Tina Weaver.
The restructure sees the People's former deputy editor, Gary Jones, become executive editor for both titles, reporting to former People editor Lloyd Embley, who was put in charge of both papers after Wallace and Weaver's exit.
Other new appointments include:
- People head of content Lee Harpin becomes Mirror news editor (weekends)
- Daily Mirror deputy head of content Barry Rabbetts becomes Mirror news editor (weekdays)
- People assistant head of content Tom Carlin is now Mirror assistant news editor
- Sunday Mirror news editor James Saville becomes head of content at the People.
Embley said: 'These are key appointments in the creation of a dynamic Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror seven-day operation.
'The roles are designed to allow us to become a more joined-up operation, while retaining the unique qualities and desirability of both the Daily and Sunday papers.
'I wish them all well and I know how valuable they will prove to be as we strive to strengthen both our titles."
Earlier this month Daily Mirror deputy editor Peter Willis was named as the new Monday to Friday editor of the paper and associate editor Alison Phillips as the new Saturday and Sunday editor.
Former Sunday Mirror deputy editor James Scott became the new editor of the People.
Commenting on the latest appointment, he said: 'I've worked with Nick and James for the last eight years at the Sunday Mirror and they are hugely talented journalists who will bring a new dimension to the paper. I wish them all the best in their new roles."
