Trinity Mirror is considering launching a new, cheaper tabloid, the Financial Times reports today.
The Daily Mirror currently costs 60p, making it the most expensive daily tabloid along with the Daily Mail.
Elsewhere in the daily tabloid market, the Daily Express costs 55p, The Sun 40p and the Daily Star 20p, having halved its price earlier this year.
The FT reports that the potential new Mirror title would "seek to replicate the success of the i", The Independent's 40p sister title.
Earlier this month, The Guardian reported Northern and Shell was considering cutting the price of the Express newspapers, as it had done so with the Star.
The Daily Star cut its price from 40p to 20p on 5 October. According to ABC, its average circulation between 28 September and 25 October was 432,043, up from 403,380 between 24 August and 27 September.
