Officers from the Met Police phone-hacking investigation Operation Weeting arrested a 42-year-old woman this morning in connection with allegations of money laundering.
A statement released by the force said: ‘She was arrested after attending a south-west London police station by appointment at approximately 11:00hrs on suspicion of money laundering offences, contrary to Section 327 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and is currently being questioned.”
Police have made around 50 arrests in connection with inquiries into hacking and corruption under three Scotland Yard operations, Weeting, Elveden and Tuleta.
The latest development follows the arrest last Thursday of Sun Whitehall editor Clodagh Hartley, 37, who was spoken to by officers on the Elveden corruption inquiry. According to the Met, that arrest came about as a result of information provided to police by News Corp‘s management and standards committee.
On 2 May, Rupert Murdoch said that the MSC had completed its investigations into The Times, Sunday Times and Sun newspapers.
