Newsnight’s Nick Hopkins returns to Guardian as head of investigations

Former Guardian investigations editor Nick Hopkins is to return to his old job 19 months after leaving the title to join Newsnight.

Hopkins was investigations correspondent for Newsnight. He joined the BBC after just over a year as investigations editor of The Guardian (filling the position left by David Leigh)..

His new role is head of investigations for The Guardian.

The job was advertised internally and externally.

According to the press release both Guardian editor Katharine Viner and Hopkins are “delighted” by the job move.

Viner said: “Nick is a hugely talented and respected journalist with a formidable track record.”
