The Sunday Times has on average 83,000 readers a week on its tablet edition according to new figures released today.
The Times claims 67,000 daily readers of its digital edition on iPad and Android devices.
The new figures are based on a metric called Publication Active Views, which measures the number of electronic versions of an edition actually viewed.
The Times and the Sunday Times are the first publications to announce figures using this new metric released through the ABC.
Paul Hayes, managing director of News UK commercial, said: “These figures show that we can offer a compelling advertiser proposition for a tablet product in a subscription environment.
“We can give brands access to a large, segmented, premium subscriber audience that’s closely aligned with our brands and engages regularly with our content. That’s positive news for us and for news brands everywhere.”
For both titles, readership was dominated by the Apple iPad. For The Times the breakdown was iPad: 61,982, Android tablets:5,398. For the Sunday Times it was iPad: 75,794 and Android: 7,135.
