Owner of The Independent Evgeny Lebedev has revealed new editors for both The Independent and i.
Former Independent Voices editor Amol Rajan will take charge of The Independent while executive editor Oliver Duff has been made editor of the i.
Last month, Lisa Markwell was made editor of the Independent on Sunday.
Chris Blackhurst replaced Simon Kelner as editor of The Independent in July 2011. In April last year he was promoted to group editorial director of the Evening Standard and Independent newspapers.
Blackhurst has also changed roles in the latest reshuffle.
Lebedev said via Twitter: "Chris Blackhurst is appointed to Group Content Director overseeing integration and content creation across all titles…I thank him for all his work and leadership as editor of @independent. Look forward to creating a 21st century media company with him."
In a statement today, Lebedev said: “Our businesses are at a critical stage and a bold approach is needed for our industry. Today I am continuing this approach by appointing as editors two highly talented young journalists. Their energy, creativity and resourcefulness will invigorate both The Independent and i.
"We are lucky to have in Chris Blackhurst a skillful and highly respected journalist with long experience of both The Independent and the Standard and I thank him for what he has achieved as editor of The Independent. Lisa Markwell has already made an impact at The Independent on Sunday in her short time in charge.
"Our goal is to develop a pioneering and integrated newsroom for the 21st century, providing print, digital and television output 24/7."
The statement also said that Blackhurst and all editors will report to Lebedev on "editorial matters".
