By William Turvill

Nine out of ten broadsheet national titles put on circulation in March.

The i was the fastest growing title with its daily circulation now standing at 302,757 – up 1.53 per cent since February and 10.58 per cent in a year.

The Observer was the only broadsheet to drop sales, with a decline of 0.2 per cent to 223, 136.

Elsewhere, the Financial Times's circulation rose by 1.46 per cent to 273,047, The Daily Telegraph's by 0.78 per cent to 545,283, The Times's by 0.69 per cent to 396,520, The Independent's by 0.2 per cent to 75,274 and The Guardian's by 0.1 per cent to 193,780.

On the Sundays, The Sunday Telegraph's circulation rose by 1.12 per cent to 434,169, The Sunday Times's went up by 1.08 per cent to 884,845 and The Independent on Sunday's rose by 0.29 per cent to 113,923.

All daily tabloid and mid-market titles lost circulation – but none by more than 1 per cent.

The Sun Sunday and Sunday Mail put on circulation of 0.61 per cent (to 1,924,231) and 0.71 per cent (to 291,075) respectively.

The Times was the only title to record an increase year on year but its circulation figure – 396,520 – does include 19,000 multiple-copy (bulk)sales which were not present a year ago.
