Per Mikael Jensen has rejoined Metro International as its new chief executive and president.
Jensen will leave his current role as CEO of Danish free TV channel TV2 in November and was previously global editor-in-chief of the paper.
In a 21-year career in newspapers, Jensen has held senior positions at Politken, Jyllandsposten and Metro International subsidiary MetroXpress.
He said: ‘I am thrilled to re-join Metro International, which I believe is one of the most interesting media companies there is. Metro is a young company, with many young and talented employees and strong positions in a number of large advertising markets. It has significant potential to further develop its position.”
London-based Metro International claims to be the world’s largest global newspaper and publishes in 23 countries.
Pelle Törnberg will leave his position as chief executive and president on 31 July. Chief operating officer Chris Spalding will act as interim chief executive and Dennis Malamatinas will assume the role of Executive Chairman until Jenson begins on 1 November.
