The rich and famous can now use their children as a way to keep negative stories out of the press after a "watershed" Court of Appeal ruling.
This was the view of media lawyer Mark Stephens speaking after a case in which The Sun on Sunday was prevented by the court from revealing that a famous married figure from the world of entertainment had been involved in a sexual threesome with another couple.
The court overturned an earlier ruling from the High Court and put an interim injunction in place banning publication pending a full hearing on the matter.
The couple who went forward to The Sun with the revelation are now effectively gagged from speaking out about the matter.
The Court of Appeal said it was acting out of concern for the welfare of the children of the married famous couple. It also held that because the pair had an "open" marriage, the revelation of the adulterous affair did not correct a false image.
