Kevin Pietersen joins Daily Telegraph as cricket columnist

Kevin Pietersen has joined The Daily Telegraph as a cricket columnist, with his first article appearing in the paper and online today.

Pietersen played 104 Test matches for England, scoring 23 centuries and winning four Ashes series before being sacked by the England and Wales Cricket Board in February.

The South African-born batsman hit out at the ECB last month after managing director Paul Downton criticised his attitude during the winter’s Ashes series.

Downton apologised for breaching the terms of the ECB’s settlement agreement with Pietersen, which also includes a confidentiality clause.

The Telegraph cricket team already includes former England captains Michael Vaughan and Geoffrey Boycott.

Pietersen, who still plays for Surrey and captains the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League, said: “The prospect of providing my thoughts and analysis on all things cricket is an exciting one and I hope people enjoy reading them as much as I will enjoy writing them.”
