ITV News anchorman Mark Austin has been announced as the Sunday Mirror’s new columnist replacing former Daily Mirror editor the late Richard Stott.
Austin, who presents ITV’s Evening News, has reported from war zones around the world and has been Asia and Africa correspondent for ITV.
He was one of the first British journalists to report from the Gulf during the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwaitl.
He has picked up a number of awards during his 20-year career including an international Emmy for reports of the Mozambique floods in 2000, and a Gold Medal at the Film & Television Festival in 1996 for his coverage of the fall of Srebrenica
More recently he relaunched the News at Ten with Sir Trevor McDonald and Julie Etchingham.
