The fashion and style teams at The Guardian and The Observer have collaborated to launch a new biannual fashion magazine.
The first issue of The Fashion will be available free in this Saturday’s (21 September) edition of The Guardian.
Marketed as a “luxury magazine”, the glossy supplement will feature 84 pages of news, features, photo shoots and a complete guide to the new season’s styles.
Alice Fisher, commissioning editor of The Observer magazine, will edit the new supplement, which will also feature contributions from Guardian fashion editor Jess Cartner-Morley, Observer fashion editor Jo Jones, Guardian News & Media’s head of fashion Imogen Fox, Guardian and Observer beauty columnist Eva Wiseman and fashion writer Lauren Cochrane.
Fisher said: The Guardian and Observer have a fantastic team of fashion editors and stylists and we wanted to produce a standalone magazine that showcases that talent. The result is The Fashion. The first issue is an in-depth guide to the autumn/winter 2013 collections and trends, produced with the wit and intelligence that readers expect from our team of talented writers.”
A digital edition of ‘The Fashion’ will also be available on the Guardian and Observer iPad edition and content will also appear on theguardian.com/fashion.
The launch is a further sign that GNM has renewed its focus on supplements for its weekend titles.
The Observer yesterday unveiled a new technology supplement, Tech Monthly, which was the first monthly pull-out launch since the paper closed its sport, women and music monthlies in 2010.
