Former News of the World news editor Greg Miskiw is understood to have today become the 12th person to be arrested as part of the new Scotland Yard investigation into press phone-hacking.
The BBC today reported that Miskiw, 61, was arrested after visiting a police station by appointment.
Miskiw left the News of the World in 2005. He had been assistant editor overseeing the paper’s Manchester- based news operation and turned down an offer to move jobs back to London.
At the time he bought a share in Manchester-based Mercury Press Agency and became its editor.
Since then he has been working as a freelance in Florida.
