The Financial Times has appointed Matthew Garrahan as its global media editor based in New York.
Garrahan was previously the paper’s correspondent in Los Angeles covering media and politics along the west coast.
He will start his new role on 1 February and relocate to New York inthe summer.
FT editor Lionel Barber said: “Matt has been an outstanding reporter in Hollywood for the FT, consistently delivering front page scoops and deeper reportage on the entertainment industry. He is a highly respected media observer and his move to New York as the FT’s media editor is a natural next step. He will be a superb leader in this vital beat.”
Garrahan replaces Andrew Edgecliffe-Johnson, who became the FT’s US news editor in October.
