Former Sun editor Dominic Mohan appointed chief executive of PR firm

By Mark A. Silberstein

Former Sun editor Dominic Mohan has been named as the new chief executive of PR firm the Outside Organisation.

Mohan, who left The Sun to be a senior advisor to News Corp chief executive Robert Thompson in 2013, will work alongside Outside founder Alan Edwards (both pictured) who becomes chairman.

Mohan worked for The Sun for 17 years and took over as editor from Rebekah Brooks in 2009.

He described Edwards as an “inspirational figure”, and said in a statement: “We have known each other for a very long time and have always thought it would be fun to do something together.

“The prospect of working alongside him was irresistible. Outside has a superb reputation and I aim to help build on its' successes. It’s a great time to be joining. Exciting times await.”

Edwards said: “I’ve known and worked with Dominic for about 20 years and always thought he’d made a great PR. He clearly knows a story when he sees one and that skill is vital in our industry. He’s driven and connected and he will be an enormously important addition to the company. PR keeps evolving with as much focus on producing the content as delivering it and Dom is a great person to have on the team during this time.”
