A former soldier who sold information to a newspaper has been conditionally cautioned, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.
He will not be charged as long as he makes a £150 payment to a charity “connected with the armed services”.
The CPS received the “misconduct in public office” allegation file in November 2013.
Gregor McGill, a senior lawyer at the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “In accepting a conditional caution an individual accepts responsibility for the offending set out.
“The evidence was considered carefully in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors and the DPP’s guidelines on the public interest in cases affecting the media.”
