Former Daily Mirror journalist Greig Box-Turnbull has been named as the new managing director of Oxford United.
Box-Turnbull was one of 34 journalists arrested and/or charged under Operation Elveden in connection with payments made to public officials for stories.
He was cleared by the Crown Prosecution Service in April 2015 some three years after his initial arrest. He has been working in PR since 2012.
Only two journalists were ever convicted under Elveden, one of whom is appealing.
He said at the time: "I feel completely vindicated that the Crown Prosecution Service has finally dropped its ill-conceived case against me and I can start to look forward to my future.
“Operation Elveden has been a vicious assault on public interest journalism and press freedom by the Met Police and the CPS."
On taking up his new job he said:""I’m extremely proud to be joining Oxford United and look forward to leading our great club and building on the excellent progress and momentum Darryl has instilled.
“I very much share the Board’s vision for the club and will strive to exceed it.”
Oxford United is currently second in League Two.
