As The Times gears up to launch a paywall for online content, chief leader writer Daniel Finkelstein has been promoted to executive editor in charge of digital content.
Alex O’Connell is executive editor in charge of the “development of print produts”.
Camilla Cavendish has been promoted to chief leader writer and Gurtej Sandhu has been appointed director of Times Digital. The Times said in a statement that Tom Whitwell, editor of TimesOnline and Hector Arthur, director of digital development, will report in to Sandhu.
Sandhu has been CIO and general manager/senior vice president of digital for Star TV in India/Hong Kong from 2008. Star TV, like The Times, is part of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp empire.
