Film critic William Hall dies of cancer

Journalist William Hall died of cancer today aged 73.

Hall started his career in 1953 on the Fulham Chronicle. From 1959 he worked on the London Evening News until its closure in 1980.

He specialised in showbiz and film star interviews and wrote a number of books – including a biography of Michael Caine.

After leaving the Evening NEws he went freelance and up until his death he was the film critic for the Camden New Journal.

The funeral will be held at Highgate School Chapel on Wednesday, 28 May, at 2.30pm.
