Former Mail on Sunday sports editor Malcolm Vallerius has joined Telegraph Media Group as associate sports editor.
Vallerius will work across integrated sports desk on The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph and the telegraph.co.uk website.
Vallerius left The Mail on Sunday in March after more than 20 years at the paper. His departure marked one of the first high-ranking exits under editor Geordie Greig, who took over last year.
He had been one of the longest-standing sports editors on Fleet Street, having first been appointed to the job in 2001.
He made way for Alison Kervin, the former chief sports writer at The Times, who became the first ever female sports editor of a UK national newspaper.
In his new role, Vallerius will report in to Telegraph sports editor Adam Sills. Ben Clissitt remains as head of sport, having joined from The Guardian in 2010.
