ESI Media has announced the relaunch of the Evening Standard and Independent websites.
The Independent and i100 websites combine to make the fifth largest national newspaper website in the UK – attracting an average 2,520,455 unique users a day in August, up 19 per cent year on year – according to ABC figures.
The Evening Standard's site, meanwhile, trailed all national newspaper websites as well as the Manchester Evening News and Liverpool Echo in August, with 424,349, up 23 per cent year on year.
In a press release, ESI Media said: "The new sites have easier navigation and a renewed emphasis on design, photojournalism, video journalism and typography.
"The responsive, dynamic design improves user experience across all devices, a key feature given over 50% of traffic now comes from mobile.
"The sites make sharing even easier, key to building on ESI’s 5.2 million social foot print – larger than that of MailOnline and The Telegraph. The sites are commercially optimised to ensure high impact and highly viewable advertising and a complete range of native opportunities."
It added: "The Evening Standard presents a bolder, more dynamic site while continuing to deliver the latest breaking news, sport and entertainment stories from the capital. The Independent’s relaunch focuses on delivering the brand’s award-winning journalism, international reach, Voices campaigning and comment; including in-depth explainers, chart articles and faster live blogs."
