Daily Mirror now 50 per cent more expensive than The Sun after raising weekday cover price to 60p

The Daily Mirror weekday edition now costs 50 per cent more than The Sun.

The Mirror last week put its cover price up from 55p to 60p.

This comes after the title raised the price of its Saturday edition from 80p to 90p.

The Sun weekend edition also went up by 10p to 70p earlier this year, but its weekday edition remains at 40p.

The Daily Mirror costs the same now as the Daily Mail, and is more than the Daily Express (55p), Daily Star (40p) and the i newspaper (40p).

Last month sales of the Daily Mirror fell 9.1 per cent year on year to an average of 881,545 according to ABC. Sales of The Sun fell by 11.2 per cent to 1,857,700 per day.
