The Daily Mirror is beefing up its political coverage in the run-up to the 2015 election with the signing of the Yorkshire Post's political editor Jack Blanchard.
Blanchard, who will take the title of political correspondent at the Mirror, is the chairman of the Newspaper Conference, which represents regional press political editors and lobby correspondents in Westminster.
He has has led the Post's politics coverage since 2012 and has been at the paper since 2009.
Blanchard started his journalism career as a trainee on the Boston Standard in Lincolnshire before moving to cover politics at the Worcester News.
Daily Mirror political editor Jason Beattie said: "Jack is a great signing for the Daily Mirror. In his short time in Westminster he has already shown himself to be a top-class political reporter and proven story getter.
"He joins one of the strongest political teams in Parliament as it prepares to deliver unrivalled coverage in print and online of the 2015 general election."
