Guardian News & Media has appointed the Daily Mail’s chief sports writer Paul Hayward to work as a senior sports writer across The Guardian, The Observer and Guardian.co.uk.
GNM said today that Hayward – who has been at Mail for two years and briefly worked at The Guardian during the late 1990s – would join after the company moves from its Farringdon Road headquarters to a new custom-made office space in Kings Cross.
Hayward has been the British Press Awards Sports Writer of the Year twice and has three Sky Sports awards for best football writer.
After starting his nationals career at the Racing Post, Hayward has spent stints as chief sports writer at The Independent and the Daily Telegraph.
