
Former deputy political editor of the Daily Mirror Bob Roberts has been appointed political editor following the departure of Oonagh Blackman.
Roberts has 10 years’ experience writing for the lobby. He has worked at the Press Association as political correspondent where in 1999 he became deputy political editor.
Roberts said: “It is a tremendous honour to be appointed political editor of the newspaper I have read since I was a boy”.
Mirror editor Richard Wallace added: “Bob has been a tremendous asset to the Daily Mirror’s political team and fully deserves this promotion.
“He understands the concerns of our readers and I am certain he will be a huge success as the political editor of the Daily Mirror.”
Roberts joined the Mirror in 2000 where he also covered home affairs, defence and education.
He was one of the first journalists to enter Kosovo with the British troops.
