ABCs: Three quarters of national dailies grow April sales month on month

Only three of the 12 national daily newspapers audited by ABC dropped circulation month on month in April, according to the latest  figures.

The Guardian grew the most month on month, with an average circulation of 196,004 representing a 1.15 per cent increase.

The Financial Times dropped most with sales falling by 2.52 per cent to 266,169. The other dailies to see circulation fall month on month were the Daily Mail, which dropped 1.01 per cent to 1,808, 327, and the Daily Star, whose 0.7 per cent decline left it with a circulation of 529,588.

On the Sundays, the Sunday People enjoyed the biggest month on month circulation boost, growing by 1.12 per cent to 421,055, while the Mail on Sunday grew by 0.57 per cent to 1,697,982.

The biggest loss (3.06 per cent) was suffered by The Sunday Telegraph, which averaged circulation of 420,891.

Year on year circulation continued to fall virtually across the board. Only the i and The Times grew compared with April 2012, adding 12.02 per cent and 1.61 per cent respectively.
