Catherine Westwood has been named as the new editor of IPC Connect’s Woman’s Own magazine.
She was formerly editor of Hubert Burda Media’s Wedding and Wedding Flowers magazines (formerly owned by IPC Media).
Westwood, who has held senior editorial positions at Bella and The Sun, takes over from Vicky Mayer, who left in October.
After her departure deputy editor Jayne Marsden took over as acting editor and she will return to become deputy when Westwood arrives in April.
Westwood will be tasked with turning around a steady slide in sales in recent years – the most recent ABC circulation figures show a 17.6 per cent drop to 240,347 a month.
She said: ‘The title has a very exciting future and I look forward to working with the talented editorial team to drive it forward and make it an even more essential read for modern 40-plus women.”
Woman’s Own publishing director Roger Cummings added: ‘I am delighted to welcome Catherine back to IPC to edit Woman’s Own at such an exciting time for the brand.
‘Woman’s Own, 80 years old in 2012, has a fantastic heritage, loyal audience and incredible potential.
‘I know that Catherine’s wealth of experience, leadership qualities, deep understanding of the audience and proven track record make her the perfect choice to lead the brand to greater success.’
