The Week celebrates 20th birthday by giving away 100,000 copies

The Week is celebrating its 20th birthday today by giving away 100,000 copies at key travel points around the UK.

A free copy has also been promised via social media to anyone who uses the hashtag #trytheweek.

The issue is in partnership with Rolex and features a cover wrap sponsored by the brand.

The UK edition of the magazine was launched in 1995 by ex-Sunday Telegraph deputy editor Jolyon Connell.

The Week said: “Shortly after its launch Felix Dennis, the late owner of Dennis Publishing, sent Jolyon Connell a note congratulating him on the success of The Week and invited him to share a beer in celebration.

“One thing lead to another and by the end of the evening Felix had invested in the magazine, later taking full ownership, with Jolyon Connell remaining involved.”

According to ABC, The Week magazine has had 33 consecutive circulation increases since launch to a current average total of 200,096 per issue.

Paid-for digital downloads of The Week are at an average of more than 27,000.
