Total Film editor Jane Crowther has been promoted to the newly-created role of editor-in-chief.
Crowther, who was appointed editor in January after six months as acting editor, has worked for the title, on staff and as a freelance, for more than a decade.
As editor-in-chief she will oversee all elements of the title including print, online, tablet and mobile editions, as well as video content video and ‘all other related Total Film brand properties”.
Her appointment comes after the launch of its interactive iPad edition earlier this month.
She said: ‘It’s an amazing time to be editing Total Film, and spearheading the entire TF brand range is a tremendous, and exciting, challenge.
‘We are thrilled with the reception to our iPad app, and technology of this kind is going to be the portal to unprecedented opportunities for us.”
Total Film’s iPad edition launched on 11 May and was built on Future’s own app-creation software FutureFolio.
Publishers Future claimed that totalfilm.com overtook Empireonline for the first time in December 2011 with 236,000 unique users, compared with Empireonline.com’s 235,000, and 5.3 million page views compared with Empireonline.com’s 4.9 million, according to Comscore figures.
Total Film publisher Lee Nutter said: ‘Total Film’s continued growth through digital channels has exceeded our expectations both at home and internationally. Jane has been instrumental in driving this growth with the fantastic interactive iPad edition and will deliver further success for the brand in her new role.”
