Award-winning IT journalist Tony Collins is no longer on the staff of Computer Weekly following a restructure – but he remains a contributor to the title.
Executive editor Collins has won numerous awards for his high-profile investigations into mismanaged government IT projects. News editor Bill Goodwin remains on the staff following the redundancy consultation.
Five editorial staff were consulted about possible redundancy as Computer Weekly became the latest Reed Business Information title to restructure journalists into new multimedia teams.
In a statement the company said: ‘Following a review of editorial strategy, Computer Weekly has restructured its editorial team to ensure the publication is able to meet the changing requirements of its readers and advertisers and to continue the growth of the brand, by finding new and more effective ways to engage with readers.
‘The new editorial structure focuses on delivering platform-independent multimedia content that engages with key sectors of CW’s audience.
‘A number of new roles were created as part of the restructure and through the normal redundancy consultation processes, three members of the team opted to leave RBI rather than apply for those new roles. There will be no reductions in headcount as a result of the changes.
‘Tony Collins remains as a contributor to Computer Weekly, continuing to write his IT projects blog for our web site.”
