By Oliver Luft

Keith Jones, chief executive officer of Reed Business Information, has been named the winner of the Marcus Morris Award 2009 for his contribution to magazine publishing.

Jones collected the award, which recognises “significant and longstanding” contribution to the magazine publishing industry in the UK, at a ceremony in London last night.

Eric Verdon-Roe, PPA consultant, said: “This prestigious award is a fitting reflection of his long and illustrious career in publishing, and he deservedly joins an elite group of winners who represent the pinnacle of the industry’s talent.”

Jones started his career by joining IPC as a graduate in 1977 rising through the ranks in marketing and publishing roles for titles including Country Life, New Scientist, Melody Maker and Woman’s Own.

While as IPC he relaunched Chat magazine and was responsible for the launch of Loaded while working as the managing director of the publisher’s Specialist Group.

Jones was appointed chief executive of Reed Business Publishing in 1995 and the next year oversaw the integration of several existing businesses to form Reed Business Information (RBI) UK.

He was appointed chief executive of RBI Worldwide in December.
