The publisher of Dazed & Confused has launched a new arts and fashion magazine called Hunger.
The first edition of the bi-annual magazine hits the newsstands this week, 20 years after the launch of Dazed & Confused, and features interviews with the likes of Rhys Ifans, Sky Ferreira, Ray Winstone, Terence Stamp and Michael Sheen.
The magazine is published by British photographer Rankin, whose other titles include AnOther and AnOther Man.
Hunger, which has a print run of 47,000 and costs £4, will celebrate the ‘innate drive that we all possess and that, with a bit of creativity, can be used as an impetus for cultural change”, and provide ‘creative beings with a new platform for uncompromised self-expression, innovation and discovery”.
Each issue of the magazine features both a male and female cover. Hungertv.com launched simultaneously with the magazine and is described as a ‘ground-breaking video-based website’featuring interviews and fashion films, updates from The Hunger team and previews of content for upcoming issues.
Rankin said: ‘The Hunger is an idea that was born from the realisation that, more than two decades into my career as a photographer, I am still inspired by what I do every day. I named my first retrospective exhibition Visually Hungry – that’s how I felt. In a lot of ways, it is how I think I’ll feel until I die.”
No additional staff members are being taken on to produce the new magazine.
