Private Eye has risen its cover price for the first time in seven years.

The fortnightly title, the UK’s best selling current affairs magazine, now costs £1.80, up from £1.50.

The latest edition announces the 20 per cent price rise in a ‘number crunching’ feature.

It says:

£1.80: Cost of Private Eye as of this issue, following first price rise in seven years

“£2.25: Cost of the smallest cappuccino available from Starbucks

“£3.31: Average cost of a pint of beer”

In the first half of 2014, Private Eye recorded a circulation of 218,290 of 2.1 per cent.
