Editor of the News of the World‘s Fabulous magazine supplement Sally Eyden is joining IPC as editor of Now.
She joins the women’s weekly at a time when sales have been flagging, circulation dropped 12 per cent to 338,080 in the first half of this year.
Eyden is to join Now in February next year after she has served her notice with News International. She was deputy editor on Fabulous when it launched in January 2008 and was promoted to editor 10 months later.
Now is current being edited by deputy editor Victoria Kennedy who has been in the editor’s chair since Abigail Blackburn left to return to Australia in May.
IPC Connect publishing director Sandy Gale said: ‘Sally brings with her a brilliant track record in celebrity, and the contacts book to match.
‘Our readers attach huge value to the celebrity access, in-depth analysis and trusted opinion Now delivers every week – it’s why they are prepared to pay a premium price for the magazine. I can’t think of an editor better equipped to lead the brand’s fantastic team on to further success.’
