Mother and Baby has claimed a UK magazine industry first by publishing a picture of a breastfeeding mother on its front cover.
The Bauer Media-owned magazine is publishing the findings of a survey on breastfeeding as part of a special report in its August issue, out tomorrow.
The parenting title has also compiled a guide to breastfeeding and a section dedicated to working through any problems mothers may have.
The magazine’s survey of more than 1,200 mothers revealed that 60 per cent do not think the UK is breastfeeding-friendly, and 65 per cent said they would not even try it because they were worried about people staring at them.
Mother and Baby editor Miranda Levy said: “We wanted to help challenge and change these perceptions with more positive images of breastfeeding women such as the gorgeous and groundbreaking picture on this month’s front cover.”
