Future’s new monthly craft title Mollie Makes has broken the company’s subscriptions record for a new launch during its first month on sale.
More than 3,000 subscribers have signed up for the magazine. Future said subscriptions had been driven by online channels such as the Mollie Makes blog and Future’s subscription website myfavouritemagazines.co.uk.
Future said it was too early to give a figure for the newsstand sales of the magazine, which launched last month, but the overall print-run for the launch edition was 26,000 copies.
‘We have been thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive response we’ve had to the launch of Mollie Makes,’said Craft Group publisher Kerry Lawrence
‘The feedback, especially via social media channels such as Twitter and Facebook, has been extremely positive and this is reflected by the high number of subscribers that have already signed up.”
Meanwhile, Jane Toft has been appointed editor of the magazine
She was previously co-editor of the title alongside Janet Meadowcroft, who is now an editorial consultant.
Toft was of the small editorial team that started Future Publishing in the 1980s and was formerly art director of Future’s first craft magazine Needlecraft.
At Mollie Makes she manages a four-strong editorial team and will continue to work with Meadowcraft.
Lawrence said: ‘ Jane will spearhead a team who live and breath craft, ensuring our staff are as passionate as our readers about their subject.
‘Mollie Makes has enjoyed great success so far, and Jane is the ideal editor to help build on these achievements.”
