The Illustrated London News Group has been bought out by a new company backed its managing director and other private investors.
The customer publishing firm, which produces magazines for Rolls Royce and coach firm National Express among others, is now called Illustrated London News Limited and will continue to be headed by MD Lisa Barnard who has run the business since 2000.
There is no threat to its 35 staff, who will remain in its London office.
The company owns the rights to an extensive archive including material from the ILN, which was founded in 1842 and claims to be the world’s first newspaper to publish pictures, and seven other titles including The Tatler and The Graphic.
Barnard was previously involved in management buy-outs of Harpers Wine and Spirit Weekly and also launched the magazines Classic FM and Inside Hotels.
She said: ‘We are very fortunate to be the new owners of a publishing business with such a tremendous heritage.”
