Take a Break retained the top spot in the real life market as the newer entrants into the market start to show fatigue.
The Bauer weekly managed to stay about the 1 million-circulation mark but was down 2.5 per cent year-on-year to 1,001,003.
The newest entrants into the ferociously fought real life market started to show steep circulation declines. News Magazines’ Love It! was down 10 per cent year-on-year to 367,199 while ACP- Natmags’ Real People was down 13.4 per cent year-on-year to 269,376. Essential Publishing Full House also took a hit of 13.8 per cent year-on-year to 156,516.
All three titles were launched on the back of the success of IPC’s Pick Me Up which found a new, younger market for real life weeklies when it launched in 2005. Pick Me Up’s circulation remained flat over the year at 426,327.
Mature women’s weeklies like IPC’s Woman, Women’s Weekly and Woman’s Own all experienced year-on-year declines as did Bauer’s Best and Bella, the latter of which suffered an almost 30 per cent year-on-year circulation fall to 221,661.
