Magazine ABCs: Q still top music title despite major decline

Rock monthly Q remained the highest-circulation magazine the music sector despite a 17.7 per cent slide over the past year to 130,179 sales.

Despite a dip of 2.1 per cent over the last six months, Kerrang! posted a 4.3 per cent year-on-year increase to 83,610, extending its lead over IPC rival NME, which lost 8.2 per cent, leaving it with 68,151 sales.

Uncut dropped 3.2 per cent year-on-year leaving the IPC film and music monthly with a circulation of 85,884.

In an otherwise gloomy sector, there were some impressive performances among smaller titles.

Future Publishing’s Classic Rock boosted its sales an impressive 20 per cent over the past year to 67,241.

Free dance music weekly One Week to Live increased it distribution 64.3 per cent year-on-year to 22,365.

Among the film magazines, Empire increased its sales by 2.1 per cent year-on-year while Future’s Total Film declined 5.9 per cent.
