IPC mag sell-offs continue as Dennis buys Web User

By Press Gazette

IPC has announced the sale of Web User magazine to Dennis Publishing as part of its sale of “niche and specialist titles”.

The publisher said today in a statement: “As the UK’s best-selling internet magazine, Web User includes the best of the net and offers simple-to-follow internet and computing advice…

“The deal sees Dennis acquire the brand – currently published within the IPC Inspire portfolio – with immediate effect. There will be no interruption to the publishing schedule of the title.”

Dennis Publishing chief executive James Tye said: ‘Web User has a distinctive style and a strong consumer voice and will make a superb addition to our technology portfolio.

“This is now the fifth acquisition we have made in the last 18 months and underlines our commitment to continue to grow the company, both in print, online and the digital magazine space.”

It follows the sell-off of Guitar and Bass magazine by IPC last week and also that of Cage and Aviary Birds.

Press Gazette understands IPC is in advanced talks with Vitality Publishing over the sale of Loaded, Superbike, Prediction and HiFi News magazines.
