Award-winning business magazine editor Richard Vize is leaving journalism to become head of communications at Ofsted.
Vize has revealed that he is leaving Emap’s Health Service Journal to take up the PR role this week.
Following the departure of Vize, Alastair McLellan will edit HSJ in addition to Nursing Times.
He has been editor of Health Service Journal for three years and before that spent 15 years at Local Government Chronicle, the last seven of which as editor.
At Local Government Chronicle he was named editor of the year in the 2007 PPA awards when judges described him as a “driving force behind change”.
At the time he said: “We really are deeply embedded in our market, we’re passionate about it and we fight on its behalf and are also willing to challenge it. I think that’s been the secret of our success ‚ it really is about getting under the skin of your market, not just looking over the wall from the outside.”
A spokesperson for Ofsted said: “Richard Vize will be joining Ofsted on a temporary basis as head of communications. He will be filling an existing role that has been vacant and will work with the existing communications team to further enhance Ofsted’s internal and external communications work.”
