As the UK press descend on Washington for the Prime Minister's visit to the White House, Axegrinder wonders whether they have learnt their lessons from last year.
According to Grazia editor Jane Bruton, her magazine beat the nationals to the state dinner – demonstrating why, as a journalist, it always pays to be dressed for any potential occasion.
“We were invited to cover David Cameron’s state visit to the White House with the national newspaper pack," Bruton said at a PPA conference.
"Much to their annoyance we got better access than they did because our assistant editor Hattie [Brett] was the only one who packed a long dress.
"So she was invited to the state dinner as well.”
