Former Heat and Time Out editor to take charge of Now

By William Turvill

Former Heat and Time Out editor Mark Frith has been named as the new editor-in-chief of Now.

Frith is to replace Sally Eyden – who is moving on to edit ITV's Loose Women – at the celebrity and style weekly in September.

Frith previously edited Heat between 1999 and 2008 and Time Out between 2009 and 2011.

Paul Cheal, "director of innovation" at Time Inc. UK, said: “Mark has racked up a number of industry accolades and has proven his talent for launching new products and growing market share. But what really made him the stand out candidate for this role is his passion for the celebrity sector and his clear vision for growing Now’s market share. Mark will play a pivotal role in our print and digital evolution.

“Sally has done a fantastic job as editor of Now for the past five years and I wish her all the best of luck in her new role in television as editor of Loose Women.”

Now recorded an average weekly circulation of 162,696 in the second half of 2014, according to ABC. This is down from more than 600,000 in 2004.
