Esquire launches Man at the Top awards

By Press Gazette

Esquire has launched Man at the Top awards to celebrate successful businessmen as a further reinvention of the title under new editor Jeremy Langmead.

The awards, to take place on November 5 in central London, will include categories for the brightest new entrepreneurs, most innovative business thinkers, cleverest companies and employee-friendly offices. They will also celebrate the ultimate tools of the trade, the smartest style labels and the best deal-sealing bars. The awards will be in association with Glenmorangie whiskey.

The December issue of the magazine will also include a new bound-in business supplement. Esquire already covers business each month and carries the Man At The Top feature – News International’s executive Chairman, Les Hinton, was interviewed in the first issue of the new-look Esquire.

Langmead said: “Esquire is a magazine for men who mean, and enjoy, business; this is why we have launched this, our inaugural business supplement, as well as the first annual Esquire Man at the Top awards. The idea is to celebrate the ambitions and achievements – as well as the fascination, fulfilment and challenges – that our working lives bring us.”

Langmead joined Esquire in April this year and oversaw a successful redesign in August that has seen the magazine receive four nominations in this year’s Magazine Design and Journalism Awards.

Esquire was up 2.1 per cent year on year in August’s ABCs, but the effects of its redesign under Langmead won’t be seen until the next round of ABCs in February 2008.
