Emap changes its name to Top Right Group

Emap has changed its name to Top Right Group – while retaining the name Emap for the B2B publishing side of the business.

The move comes after weeks of press speculation that the group is being broken up.

The latest reports are that it the company is still considering a sale of its car information business CAP.

Emap International Ltd was formed when Guardian Media Group and Apax paid £1.1bn for the business to business side of the publishing giant Emap when it was broken up in 2007.

Under the new system three independent operating companies are to be established, the company said today, overseen by holding company Top Right Group.

Formerly Emap and now Top Right Group chief executive Duncan Painter said: 'We're devolving responsibility from the centre and will give our new operating companies the freedom to be more independent, agile and single-minded in pursuit of their objectives."

The new business units are i2i Events Group (44 per cent of turnover) which includes: World Retail Congress, BETT, Naidex, Spring Fair International, RWM, BVE, Pure London and World Architecture Festival.

4C Group (38 per cent of turnover): Which includes global trend forecaster WGSN, Retail and Customer Insight, which will include Planet Retail, CAP and Brad; and Infrastructure, which will include Glenigan, Groundsure, IJ, MEED and AMEinfo.com.

Emap (18 per cent of turnover): Publishing and related events business including Retail Week, Draper's, Construction News, Architects' Journal and Health Service Journal.
